Yes, it is entirely possible to use Oomi devices with other Z-Wave gateways in this case. Most Oomi devices are essentially Z-Wave products which allow them to be paired to any Z-Wave compatible gateway. It ultimately depends on the compatibility of a specific Z-Wave gateway, unfortunately not all gateways are equal to each other.

Some gateways will sometimes add specific device compatibility to a device, while others may integrate products as generically as possible to try to be compatible to as many Z-Wave devices on the market. If you aren't sure about our products being compatible to a certain gateway, please reach out to the gateway's support team to determine if our devices will be compatible or what type of devices are compatible.

Our Z-Wave devices are:

  1. Oomi Plug
  2. Oomi Bulb
  3. Oomi Color Strip
  4. Oomi Door Window Sensor
  5. Oomi Multisensor
  6. Oomi Water Sensor
  7. Oomi Range Extender

For all Z-Wave devices, there is a specific manner to which you need to do to pair devices together. Most Z-Wave devices have a singular button which only a single button press is needed to pair or unpair a device from a Z-Wave network. Please refer to the steps below which will provide you with a generic set of steps to follow.

How to pair a Oomi Device to another Z-Wave Network:

  1. Set your Z-Wave Gateway into Z-Wave include / pair mode. (If you are unsure how to do this, please refer to your Z-Wave gateways manual or get in contact with the gateways support team.)
  2. Tap the button on your Oomi Device. Make sure that the button press is a quick press and release.

If it enters pairing mode, the LED will flash a green LED. When it successfully pairs to your network, the green LED will become a solid LED for 2 seconds.
  3. Your Z-Wave gateway should confirm pairing a device when successful, while your Oomi device should appear as a controllable node in your network if the gateway has added compatibility for the Oomi device you paired.

How to unpair a Oomi Device from its current Z-Wave Network:

These steps can be done regardless of being paired to the gateway or not. You can use any Z-Wave gateway to factory reset any Oomi device if for some reason that your gateway has failed, and requires you to replace it.

  1. Set your Z-Wave Gateway into Z-Wave remove / unpair mode. (If you are unsure how to do this, please refer to your Z-Wave gateways manual or get in contact with the gateways support team.)
  2. Tap the button on your Oomi Device. Make sure that the button press is a quick press and release.

If it unpairs successfully, the LED will return to revolving a rainbow cycle to tell you that it is ready to be paired to another Z-Wave network.
  3. Your Z-Wave gateway should confirm that it has unpaired a device when successful, while your Oomi device should appear as a controllable node in your network if the gateway has added compatibility for the Oomi device you paired.
